Moving Sale

Happy Victoria Day weekend!  What a beautiful day!  The yard is alive with flowers and everything looks so fresh and green.  We have moved several hundred trees already to our new location so only 27000 to go!  Over the next few weeks we are promoting our moving sale – so feel free to come in and browse.  We just know something will entice you and that will relieve of us having to move one more tree – every tree counts! There are thousands birds nesting in the trees and it is so noisy around here.  Interestingly enough we were delivering and installing a tree to a residential property in Mississauga – a beautiful Serbian Spruce.  It was moved from the nursery and loaded onto a large diesel truck on an angle.  It was then tarped and traveled 20 km to it’s new home.  There it was then loaded onto a machine and planted in the backyard.  Once installed the foreman noticed a nest of blue eggs in the tree.  The only way those eggs could have survived that trip is if the mother was sitting on the nest.  Sure enough later in the day they noticed the mother sitting on her eggs.  Such a nice story – hope the father finds her!   The nursery is changing daily as prepare for big move so when I go to look for a certain tree I can’t find it.  And then later in the day I find it in our island planting or tucked in the heal-in area.  The yellow Magnolias look stunning – the pictures don’t do them justice.  The Crab apples are all in bloom and the  nursery is alive with colour.  The Redbuds draw your to their neon pink blooms.  If it wasn’t for my colleague Wayne – I would have missed our Red Delicious Apple tree covered in blooms.  Last year the frost hit the blooms and we got no fruit – so hopefully this year we will be able to sample some.  Here are are few samples of the hundreds of pictures I take…enjoy…

Tree Transplanting – It is time to move…

We are busy getting our nursery in order and are bringing in fresh plants almost everyday.  Surprisingly our crews are busy on job sites moving and transplanting large trees.  It seems like homeowners and developers are looking for that instant garden feel.  Although I am very familiar with the ‘Moving Tree’ process – I am still awed by the sight of a 50 foot tree leaving our yard and driving down the high way!  The end result is truly amazing!  One day there is nothing on the client’s house or business and then it is transformed into a space that looks like this tree had been there for years.  I have inserted some pictures for your interest.  However, there is more on our website if you would like further information.  I have been taking pictures all week – but the ones I took this morning are the best.  I decided to go to our other nursery facility to see the ‘sights’.  Although my job is take pictures of our nursery material I couldn’t help but a take a few photos of the Trillium’s and Violets that cover the forest floor as well.  In the early morning the rows of Serviceberries and Ornamental Pears looked stunning – covered with masses of blooms – all in white.  The Dawn redwoods are just starting to send out their new growth and it is that beautiful chartreuse colour.  The Red Japanese Maples are just leafing out and are the most brilliant red.  The Redbuds are in bloom with the best fuchsia colour – the pictures don’t even come close to doing them justice!  I have taken so many pictures (74 this morning alone) – it will be hard to decide which ones to share with you!

Tree Transplanting – it is Time!

We have been busy getting our nursery in order and bringing in fresh product almost everyday.  Meanwhile our crews have been out on job sites moving mature tree specimens.  We are finding more and more homeowners and developers looking for mature trees and that instant garden feel.  Although I have watched the ‘Moving Tree’ process many times – I am continually in awe on how it’s done.  It is something to see a 50′ tree leaving our yard and driving on the highway to it’s new home.  And the change to the property is truly amazing! I have inserted a picture to give you an idea and there is more on our website if you are interested in the process.  But today the big news is my tour of the farm.  All week I have been in and out taking pictures but the ones I took this morning are the best.  I decided to go to our other nursery growing facility and see what is news.  The rows of Serviceberry Trees were spectacular and well as the Ornamental Pears – rows of blooms!  And everything is popping  Even the shoots of the Dawn Redwood  which are just starting are that wonderful chartreuse green.  And even though my job is to promote trees I coundln’t resist snapping a few pictures of Trilliums covering the forest floor.  And the Crapabbles are all flowering as well.  I took 74 pictures this morning and I have to limit them to the ones I like the best – that is the hard part.  Next week it looks like some of the Lilacs will be blooming – more photo ops.  the red Japanes Maples are almost in full leaf and the colour is that nice bright red that Spring brings.

Spring Trees 2012

So far Spring 2012 has blessed us with some mild temperatures and the trees are beginning to bloom.  Our crews are busy digging trees and since the temperatures have been so warm over the winter they are now creating instant landscapes in April!  We welcome you to visit our nursery to see our large selection of trees and shrubs as well as our rare and unique specimens that we are known for.  I have posted some pictures of our inventory of trees and shrubs and hope they generate your interest.  I have also posted some images of our tree moving which evolved out of finding and digging rare and unusual plants in a variety of situations.  If you have a tree that needs to be saved please to feel free to call us or visit our website.  Our ability to come up with successful solutions to saving and harvesting large and unusual plants allows us to offer  this unique service to pirvate home owners, contractors, architects and government institutions.  We go beyond rough mechanical harvesting methods;  each tree is hand dug, and up to two miles of nylon rope is utilized to safely cradle the root ball.  We have successfully relocated trees weighing of up to 140 tons and our crane capacity is 1000 tons.  It is a spectacular thing to see. We have added pages to the blog site and will update on a more regular basis – stay tuned.

March 2012

Well – the phone has started ringing!!!  People want to know if we are open and ready for business – this weather sure has got people into that warm Spring feeling!  We will start to update our availabilites as the warm weather has demanded that we start digging.  Who knew!!   Enjoy the weather and here is to a wonderful Spring season!

Fall Is So Beautiful!

Going for a walk through the field has its advantages.   Simply going out and tagging a tree means seeing some of what that nature has to offer.  And at this time of year, you can’t argue. It’s a pretty gorgeous offering!

While out there this morning, I took some photos of the pretty fall colours that some of our plants are turning.  For some of them this is their time to shine.  Especially the Burning Bush!

If you’re interested at all for your own landscape, we are in full swing for Fall digging and we would love to help you out.
